Wike,Orubebe,Chukwu Pick PDP Gov Forms


Three former Ministers who resigned their position to seek elective post in their various state have picked the expression of interest and nomination form to contest the governorship position in varioius states, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming 2015 elections.


The trio, who were among the seven ministers, who resigned from the FEC  to pursue their political ambitions were Nyesom Wike, immediate past Minister of State for Education (Rivers), immediate past minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Orubebe (Delta) and the immediate past Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu. While Orubebe was accompanied to the National Secretariat of the Party personally picked his forms, the duo of Wike and Chukwu purchased their forms by proxy.

A group of Rivers State PDP leaders obtained the Expression of Interest form for the governorship primary and presented it to Mr Wike. The group bought the form at the PDP Headquarters, Wadata House, Abuja.

The leaders were drawn from the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State and were led by Minister of Sports, Dr Tammy Danagogo, Chief Ferdinand Alabaraba, Chief Kenneth Kobani, Chief Austin Opara, former deputy speaker, House of Representatives, Chief Chibudom Nwuche, former deputy speaker, House of Representatives, Senator Adawari Pepple, former Senate whip and Chief Emeka Woke, former Emohua council chairman.

Other leaders include serving PDP members of the House of Representatives and Rivers State House of Assembly, former legislators, former council chairmen, captains of industry and youths.
Led by a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable  Austin Opara, the group said it was motivated to pick the forms for the ex-Minister, due to his pedigree as two-time council boss in the State, former Chief of Staff to the governor among other political appointments.

Speaking with news men after picking the forms for Wike and Opara explained that his group would not discourage others from vying for the gubernatorial ticket, while calling on those interested to exercise their franchise.
