The Independent National Electoral Commission said on
Thursday it would distribute Permanent Voter Cards in 5,101 polling units in
Kaduna State.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the commission has
also identified 255 wards for its Continuous Voter Registration in the state.
INEC’s spokesman, Mr Abdullahi Gujungu, told NAN in Kaduna
State that the commission would ensure that all those who were duly registered
received their PVCs during the two-day exercise from November 7 to 9.
He said the commission would organise training for electoral
officers from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Borno, Niger and Nassarawa states on the exercise,
to ensure its success.
Gujungu said recruitment and training of polling agents who
would handle the issuance of the PVCs would be held.
On the CVR, the spokesman said it would hold from November
13 to 17.
He said, “It will capture eligible voters who initially
registered but had their names missing from the master voter registration list
and those who attain the age of 18.”
Gujungu pledged the readiness of the commission to conduct a
hitch-free exercise, adding that it had learnt from the mistakes of previous
exercises conducted in some states.
