Suspected Cultists Kill 2 Persons In Separate Attacks In Bayelsa

Suspected cultists have killed two persons in separate attacks that occurred on Tuesday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa.

Confirming the incident on Wednesday to newsmen, Mr Alex Akhigbe, Police Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State Police Command, said his men were working to unravel the mystery behind the killing.

“I am out of the state but our officers are working hard to unravel the mystery behind the killings as well as bring the perpetrators to book,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that one of the attacks took place at the state’s housing estate known as Azikoro Estate while the second took place at Kpansia.

In Azikoro Estate, a resident, who prefer anonymity, told NAN that the attack claimed the life of one person simply identified as Paulo.

“Paulo is suspected to be a former cultist; he was shot dead at about 3.30 p.m. in front of his family residence in Azikoro Housing Estate.

“The suspect, who alighted from the tricycle are well armed with cutlass and gun; within some minutes, they shot the boy (Paulo) at close range and ran away.

“As they were going, they began shooting sporadically to scare away residents in the area,” he said. (NAN)
