In China, a group of people got stuck in an elevator and
decided to take matters into their own hands to escape. A group of 11 men
walked onto the elevator, and on its way down, it broke down — sending them to
the basement.
In the video, you can see the door open up to a brick wall.
They didn’t call for help, deciding instead to use a hammer — from a worker
trapped on the elevator — to chisel an opening. One of the men squeezed through
the space to get help. Maintenance workers were able to bring the elevator up
to the ground floor and let the other people out.
The incident is now under investigation. The stranded men
believe it was caused by a malfunction in the elevator, but the property
managers believe it was caused by overload.
